Childhood Immunisations:
Immunisation from an early age is highly recommended for all Australian children, as it offers protection against the most serious childhood infections. The national immunisation program provides information on the routine childhood immunisations recommended for children in Australia and the schedule coincides with routine childhood health check guidelines.

Vaccinations

Immunisation is a simple, safe and effective way of protecting people against harmful diseases before they come into contact with them in the community. Immunisation not only protects individuals, but also others in the community, by reducing the spread of disease. No matter what your age or occupation it is recommended that you ensure your vaccinations are up to date (www.immunise.health.gov.au)

TRAVEL VACCINATIONS:
Where ever your destination the best possible pre-travel preparation is essential to protecting your health while away. Some vaccines are compulsory and you will have difficulty crossing borders without correct documentation.

Other vaccines are highly recommended for your own health and safety. Make an appointment now to discuss with one of our GP’s your specific needs if you are planning a new trip!

Men's Health

Australian Men are more likely to get sick from serious health problems than Australian Women.
The poor health status of Australian men is complicated by the fact that men are more likely than women to shy away from medical treatment of any kind. The lack of health awareness and unwillingness to adopt a healthier lifestyle also disadvantages men.
Health Screening is an important part of disease prevention.

There are many screening tests and examinations that healthy men can undertake to help with detection of diseases such as cancer.

Here at Plympton Park Day & Night Surgery, our General Practitioners can carry out some of these tests, or refer you to have other tests. They will also advise you on some of the self-checks you can be doing to monitor your own health. The key role of our GP’s is to prevent disease, so they will be only too happy to help you.

Health Assessments

The aim of a health assessment is to find, prevent or lessen the effect of disease, it’s sort of like getting your car serviced before it breaks down!
A health assessment provides a structured clinical framework for our Doctors to comprehensively assess and identify any medical intervention and preventative health care you may require.

If any health problems are identified during the assessment, the Doctor will arrange for a follow up consultation to determine further management.
Our nurse will undertake the information collection component of the assessment and the Doctor is responsible for the overall health assessment provided.

As we get older many of us become more vulnerable to illness, so in order to reduce this risk make your appointment now for your Health Assessment!

Chronic Disease Management

Anyone with a ‘chronic medical condition’ which is a condition that has been, or is likely to be present for at least 6 months or is terminal can have a GP Management Plan in place.

If you have a chronic medical condition, your doctor may suggest a GP Management Plan.

If you need treatment from two or more health professionals, your doctor may also put Team Care Arrangements in place for you.

A Team Care Arrangement plan lets your doctor work with, and refer you to, at least two other health professionals who will provide treatment or services to you.

You may be eligible for Medicare benefits for specific allied health services if your doctor prepares both types of plans for you.

So talk to one of our doctors now to find out more about chronic disease management.
